Technical Project Lead

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

Technical Project Lead will be responsible to guide a cross-functional team from innovation through the go-to-market phase with our advanced engineering department.  You will have the opportunity to leverage your experience by providing technical leadership to an engineering team with a focus on developing innovative cabin technologies.  In this role, you will be at the forefront of executing projects that will create new cabin experiences and lead Gentherm’s technology to the next degree.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Plan and lead engineering project activities with cross-functional teams during development, vehicle integration and launch of new system projects.
  • Perform technical feasibility reviews.
  • Coordinate resource planning and estimation of effort.
  • Plan/coordinate product sprints according to the Agile methodology to meet milestones.
  • Conduct stand-ups, remove roadblocks, assist with project backlog.
  • Align dependencies across disciplines to execute project timing.
  • Communicate project status on an ongoing basis and identify any associated risks.
  • Evaluate system requirements and ensure traceability in DOORS.
  • Create technical work break down structure, assign work packages and monitor project progress in alignment with program manager.
  • Lead internal and external project meetings.
  • Be the overall system lead for the customer and the internal project team.
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports as needed for communication.
  • Coordinates tasks among cross functional teams involving software, electrical / functional system behavior.
  • Be part of an Agile team supporting each other, working with the project leaders to secure project deliverables, coordinating with other SCRUM teams within each product area.
  • Active cross-functional cooperation with software, hardware, testing and validation engineers, coordinating with global teams across the globe.
  • Supervising the implementation process and implementation of requirements, including close collaboration with internal and external suppliers.
  • Mentor team members in system design & requirements development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • 5+ years requirements development or systems engineering experience.
  • Experience in project management.
  • Experience with closed-loop control systems.
  • Track record of successfully lead system projects.
  • Strong cross functional communication and networking skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Familiar with automotive electronics hardware, software and systems requirements, functional objectives and validation methods and tools.
  • Basic project management skills, including planning and organization, decision making, problem solving, and project management.
  • Ability to prepare and present complex written reports and other documents.
  • Experience designing with analog, digital, semiconductors, microprocessors, power supplies, electronics hardware design, and communication circuits is required. 
  • Working knowledge of automotive specifications and requirements for EE and electromechanical systems. Experience with formal requirements engineering.
  • Experience with agile projects and Scrum.
  • Experience with JIRA and Confluence.
  • Experience with IBM DOORS Requirements Management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Master’s degree
  • 7+ years of working experience in an automotive engineering environment, high volume automotive production applications
  • Experience with model-based development (MBD) and analysis tools including Simulink.
  • Experience in using LIN and/or CAN for automotive OEM
  • Experience executing functional safety product design
  • Successful production launch of ASPICE project
  • Familiarity with embedded software design and C code
  • Knowledge of electronics assembly processes and equipment
  • Experience creating DFMEA, WCA, DFM
  • Demonstrated experience in hardware development from concept to series support Experience with Simulink MBD.
  • Experience with development of HVAC systems.

NICE TO KNOW

 

TRAVEL: Travel as necessary to perform position duties with international teams and customers. Travel may vary, but can be up to ~10% travel for periods of 1 to 2 weeks based on project workload.
