Long Description

SUMMARY: Research, design, and develop embedded software for electronic systems, in conjunction with hardware product development, by performing the following duties.


  • Analyze software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
  • Consult with hardware engineers and other engineering staff to evaluate interface between hardware and software, and operational and performance requirements of overall system.
  • Formulate and designs software system, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Develop and direct software system testing procedures, programming, and documentation.
  • Consult with customer concerning maintenance of software system.
  • Programming of embedded processors and/or real-time programming.
  • This position has the responsibility and authority for controlling quality as delegated by management.
  • Utilize Gentherm’s software platform architecture and legacy software reuse strategy, to minimize risk and effort and maximize re-use of existing solutions.
  • Ensure that software artifacts are properly developed, tested, documented and reviewed, that decisions, risks, actions and progress are documented, reported to management and comply with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specifications.
  • Adhere to software related global engineering processes.
  • Develop software to achieve on time delivery of the product.
  • Maintain software quality through design documentation and code reviews, as well as rigorous unit and regression testing using corporate standard processes and tools.
  • Contribute to software lessons learned for future projects.
  • Develop and maintain software development skillset and personal training plan in alignment with managment.     


Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

2-5 years of experience in automotive embedded software development.

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to motivate global teams

Good written and oral English and skilled at technical presentations.

Proficient in (MISRA 2012 compliant C) development of embedded real time software using automotive standard tools (debuggers, emulators, compilers).

Experience with automotive process standards (ASPICE, CMMI, ISO-26262).

Experience with automotive OEMs and Tier 1 suppliers.

Experience with NXP, Renesas or Microchip families of microcontrollers.

Experience with requirements decomposition and tracability tools such as DOORS, PTC Integrity etc.

Experience with automotive standard tools and processes for Unit (automated), Integration, Regression Test, Coverage, Code Complexity (MCDC) etc.

Experience with software version control (e.g. Perforce, Clearcase or similar tools).

Experience with Vector tools (CANalyzer, CANoe, etc.)

Experience with automotive communications protocols (CAN, LIN).  Familiar with conformance test standards for LIN/CAN networks.

Good understanding of RTOS such as OSEK and AUTOSAR OS.

Experience in the development of low level drivers, platform code, and porting of software to configure a project would be an advantage.

Experience with software architecture models (abstraction concepts) is desirable.

Familiarity with Model based development including Autocode, Matlab, Simulink an advantage

Knowledge of AUTOSAR development including tools and processes an advantage.
