Software Control Algorithms Manager

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Primary focus is ClimateSense Gen1, Gen2 and derived customer applications.  All involve complex real time control systems development using multi ECU controls structures integrated into vehicle systems.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Direct development of control algorithm software (e.g. AI, thermodynamic, thermophysiology) for core and customer ClimateSense projects.
  • Manage ClimateSense software development projects including project timelines, software test and configuration.
  • Total decision owner for Gen1 and Gen2 control algorithm solutions
  • Shared ownership for electrical and software implementation for specific customer projects
  • Shared ownership of system performance goals. Works in partnership with electrical systems, software architect and electronics engineering managers to ensure success of the ClimateSense system.
  • Manage and develop team skills.
  • Ensure collaboration across and within teams.
  • Achieve software controls innovation gate exit criteria.
  • Manage transition of technology to application teams.
  • Manage an annual operating budget for tools, maintenance, and test services of approximately $250,000/year.
QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s Degree in Computer, Software, or Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in automotive control systems development.
  • Experience in technical project leadership.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable with presenting to high level management.
  • Practical application of advanced optimal control theories.
  • Model based software development.
  • Dynamic system modeling including thermodynamics, heat transfer, mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Automotive product development lifecycle experience.
  • Software development lifecycle methodologies including ASPICE and ISO-26262.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with product innovation and generation of intellectual property.
  • Advanced degree related to controls, simulation or electrical systems development.

TRAVEL: Occasional travel may be required, <5%.
