Senior Sensor Technical Leader

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

Gentherm is transforming the future of personalized passenger thermal comfort with the smart, individual climate zone solution named ClimateSense™, tailored to the autonomous, electrified and ridesharing ecosystem of the future.  Furthermore, Health and Wellness is also a key topic to be further defined via several swim lanes to personalize the thermal comfort.  In addition, ADAS implications are propelling our core products into an age of which innovational sensing capability is needed.  Sensors will be one of the key drivers for the transformation of Gentherm as well as for an entire industry. Gentherm is seeking qualified candidates for a Senior Sensor Technical Leader in the Advanced Systems and Thermal Technology Organization based in Northville, MI. This position will be responsible for organic/inorganic design, development, verification, and proliferation of sensing technology within the Gentherm development products and systems.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Keep overview and track of all sensor related R&D programs/projects (using agile tools).
  • Build and maintain sensor knowledge base.
  • Provide overview of sensor road map to management and the organization.
  • Globally lead sensor R&D projects by identifying R&D need and harmonizing with the strategic product fit.
  • Identify potential suppliers and technical partners to advance the sensor application portfolio.
  • Technical partnership development and supporting the execution of Gentherm’s technology roadmap.
  • Collaborate with strategic and/or category buyers internally to define sensor requirements and attributes.  
  • Strongly collaborate and communication cross functionally with all engineering disciplines to ensure proper alignment and integration of the technology.  
  • Define/refine test standards.
  • Identify future capability needs (hardware, software, simulation).
  • Conduct feasibility studies, evaluate/assess technology fit according to requirements.
  • Support organization (development, lab, quality) on demand with suggestions on sensor use/application.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Electrical Engineering, or comparable discipline.
  • Knowledge of sensors, electronics, and the respective software.
  • Advanced experience in usage and integration of sensors in automotive and medical applications.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Knowledge and usage of AGILE principles and tools (JIRA/Confluence).
  • Thermal Management experience.

TRAVEL: 10%
