Long Description

The Advanced Engineering Group of Gentherm is looking for a Senior Research Scientist in the field of human thermoregulation and thermal-physiology. The Senior Research Scientist will be directly involved in research and development of the next generation human-centric, seat-based, thermal comfort delivery systems.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Apply relevant scientific rigor to design tests and experiments that enhance our current understanding of thermal-physiology
  • Oversee and participate in the experimental process
  • Administer tests
  • Ensure high quality, i.e. low variance and low bias, data output
  • Scour IP and literal sources to gather unique information and explain test results
  • Inject expertise through observation by studying onsite the interaction of subjects with prototype products or product combinations
  • Transfer accumulated knowledge to engineering teams
  • Assist team members in defining high level product specifications harmonized with state of the art and novel thermal-physiology understanding
  • Recommend new products and product enhancements
  • Write technical reports backed by statistical analysis
  • Communicate important test results to upper and senior management
  • Disseminate important test results to the scientific community, after seeking necessary approvals

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

  • A PhD in thermophysiology or closely related field such as kinesiology or sports science
  • Experience in working with human subjects
  • Proven experience in leading research projects
  • Evidence of using open source or commercial statistical tools (R, Minitab, SPSS etc)
  • A strong record of academic publications and/or submission of IP
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work in small diverse teams
  • Awareness in aligning research projects with business strategy and goals
  • Appetite for learning and for developing new skills
