Java Software Engineer

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

The Advanced Engineering Group of Gentherm is looking for a Software Engineer - Java. The software engineer will be directly involved in research and development of the next generation human-centric, seat-based, thermal comfort delivery systems. This role is instrumental in vehicle integrations of software algorithms through cloud connectivity and embedded software pieces and requires excellent communication with advanced software engineering and thermal-physiology teams. The software engineer is further expected to be at the forefront of the development of real time thermal comfort analysis and progressively integrate biometric sensor feedback as probes to driver and occupant holistic view of comfort and wellness. This is a highly interdisciplinary project that requires from the successful candidate to demonstrate aptitude in acquiring and assimilating domain knowledge from diverse scientific and engineering areas. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead software development, integration and testing demonstrating best-practice software development.
  • Work with system team to establish best-in-class software and test requirements.
  • Define technical concepts to integrate prototype software into production intent platforms.
  • Write technical reports backed by statistical analysis. 
  • Communicate important test results to upper and senior management. 
  • Scour IP and literal sources to gather unique information and explain test results. 
  • Assist engineering and product teams in defining product specifications. 
  • Collaborate with cross-functional and cross-regional teams working in an agile development environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the industry
  • BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Experience with programming languages: C/C++, Java, Javascript, Node.JS, Python
  • Experience with gateway development
  • Strong knowledge of IoT communication protocols, such as MQTT/LoRa/eSIM
  • Experience with database management and multi-threading environment
  • Overview and implementation of design patterns
  • Experience in working with IoT projects based out of edge/fog/cloud platforms
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) 
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment 

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Experience with AUTOSAR, ASAM standards
  • Experience with vehicle communication protocols: CAN, LIN
  • Experience with deep learning and machine learning
  • Experience with data analysis
  • Experience with sensor fusion development
  • Experience with OTA protocol and development
