Senior Mechanical Design Engineer




This position has the lead responsibility for designing battery cell-connecting boards, flexible circuits and flexible heaters, and components such as busbars and wire harnesses, along with electronics packaging of electro-mechanical devices.  Responsibilities also may include designing battery cooling systems that may include the use of thermoelectric devices, liquid cooling, and/or forced-air cooling.



  • Technical Leadership for Electro-Mechanical Project Designs.
  • Provide technical support to System Engineers.
  • Collaborate with process engineering on development work packages (welding, gluing, heat staking, screwing, clipping, assembly development and trials).
  • Prepare and present technical presentations to both internal and external customers.
  • Develop customer RFQ responses with creative and cost-effective design solutions.
  • Provide mentoring and coaching to other engineers.


Additional responsibilities include:


  • 3D CAD model creation along with 2D drawing creation and release.
  • Structural design within customer product installation spaces
  • Tolerance and Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis
  • High-Voltage Creepage & Clearance analysis
  • Product DFMEA creation
  • Design review preparation and execution
  • Internal DFM reviews, and DFM reviews with suppliers
  • PDM integration and BoM





  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace or related field)
  • Automotive engineering experience (5+ years)
  • Proficient CAD skills in SolidWorks and/or Catia V5
  • Experience in electro-mechanical product design and installation-space packaging for high volume automotive markets.
  • Manufacturing knowledge with metal stampings, injection molded parts, die-cast parts.




  • Master’s Degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, aerospace or related field)
  • Automotive engineering experience (7+ years)
  • Experience in SolidWorks FEA, CFD, and GT-SUITE 1D thermal modeling.
  • Experience in automotive connector systems and wire harness design.
  • Experience with flex-circuit design, fabrication, and interconnections.
  • Experience in design of busbars, battery modules or systems, and battery packs.



TRAVEL: Up to 10% travel to various domestic and international locations for the purpose of conducting business on behalf of the company.
