Resident Engineer

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

Electrical Engineering position with responsibility for supporting, developing and launching electronic systems into production for our automotive customers.  This position is the primary and technical liaison between Gentherm, and the customer’s technical staff located in Ford Dearborn Building 5. This is an exceptional opportunity for a new graduate or early career Engineer, looking to gain experience working with internal and external engineering experts to create and deliver extraordinary solutions that make meaningful differences in everyday life, by improving health, wellness, comfort and energy efficiency.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
  • Ability to prepare complex written reports and other documents
  • Good communication and business relation skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Knowledge of Ford SDS System Design Specification and GPDS (Global Product Development System)
  • Ford WERS knowledge (World Engineering Release System)
  • Demonstrated competence in the development of electrical and /or electromechanical systems
  • Working knowledge of automotive specifications for electromechanical systems
  • Basic management skills, including planning and organization, decision making, problem solving, and project management
  • Experience using C and Assembly language in embedded programming
  • Broad skills in electrical engineering
  • Thermal Management experience

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Technical liaison with customer by determining requirements for product applications, including performance, physical requirements, testing, documentation and warranty.
  • Communicate customer requirements to Gentherm product team.
  • Support PMT (Program Module Team) and electrical PAT (Program Activity Team) meetings
  • Maintain open issues list
  • Prepare technical documentation, reports as needed for communication.
  • Support program management reviews
  • Prototype sign-off
  • Support benchmarking activities
  • Verify correct component and functionality
  • WERS (Worldwide Engineering Release System) support to create concerns/notices
  • Perform/support in-vehicle & breadboard activities
  • Other duties may be assigned
