R&D Lab Technician

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

Gentherm is expanding its research capabilities and opening a new Thermophysiology Research Center. The research center sits at the fore front of the company’s mission evaluating the impact of our thermal solutions on human health, wellness and comfort in both the automotive and medical space.

Through the leadership of the Director of Thermophysiology, the lab technician will have the opportunity to be involved in developing this new lab, curating the standards required to maximize productivity and research output. The lab will be comprised of an environmental chamber, temperature-controlled room, automotive and medical devices, and physiological sensors to measure human responses to our thermal solutions. As the lab develops, the technician will play an integral role overseeing the proper functioning, operation, and use of the research center’s facilities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assists in establishing standard operating procedures for the use of the labs core equipment, especially the environmental chamber, physiological sensors, and data acquisition systems
  • Monitor all equipment to ensure optimal functioning and maintain calibration logs of the labs core equipment
  • Perform routine laboratory functions to support research experiments such as equipment booking, scheduling lab space, equipment set-up in preparation for research experiments
  • Provide technical oversight to support on human research studies
  • Manage environmental chamber functionality
  • Assist with tests and record test data according to test procedure/ work instruction
  • Train other members within the lab how to operate and troubleshoot environmental chamber and physiological sensors
  • Enforce strict health and safety requirements for human research studies

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • College graduate technologist OR a minimum of 5 years of experience in managing a research laboratory with human research participants
  • Knowledge of LabView and/or other instrument/computer interfacing software
  • Good technical acumen
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Managing laboratory activities that include human research participants

  • Lab equipment knowledge including operation, calibration, and functionality checks
