Quality Engineer

 

IMPACT AND OPPORTUNITY

 

The scope of the Corporate Quality Engineer role is global and requires close management of the quality management system, document control system, customer requirement system, audit system and KPI system. The impact to the organization is significant as the metrics and reporting will be used to guide the organization in making strategic business decisions. The contributions this role will make allows the quality organization to gain efficiencies in improving the overall quality, corporately and at plant sites.   

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Quality/Document Management System:

 

  • Create global KPI reports by consolidating and reporting local and regional data – MQR, SQR, PPQA. Analyze data and consult with plants, SQE and AQE to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective. Create efficiencies in KPI reporting methods.
  • Consolidates global customer scorecards to create a global customer report. Gives direction to sites to ensure corrective actions are implemented and effective for poor scores.
  • Maintains the Global Customer Specific Requirement database. Reviews the customer requirements and disseminates information to functional areas and plants. Advises Global Process Owners on CSR’s and global level documents for their area of responsibility.
  • Monitor and maintain document database to ensure documents are modified and released in a timely manner. Consults with site QMS managers for technical review of documents. Advises global team for clean-up of documents stuck in work, rework, and other states.
  • Collaborates and advises the BPI team, site specific document managers and others to create improvements and systems in the IATF 16949 documentation and corporate operating procedures.
  • Consults with colleagues to ensure the Quality Intranet home page is updated with certifications, training, and other Quality information.

OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS

 

Global Audit System: Responsible for developing, executing, and leading the internal and external audit program for the processes that occur at the corporate and plant sites. Monitors site audit plans to ensure they are implemented. Facilitate reporting of Gentherm Global audit performance to leadership.

 

  • Advises, trains, gives direction and mentors’ corporate internal auditors and site-specific document managers.
  • Conducts pre-audit risk assessments and gap analysis.
  • Creates and maintain corporate internal audit plan and executes to this plan including managing timely closure of nonconformances. 
  • Provides direct oversite during corporate IATF 16949, ISO 17025 at GTC, ISO 14001/45000K at plant sites and customer audits. Collaborates with the IATF Lead Auditor to resolve audit issues. Provides auditing support to sites for IATF and customer audits.
  • Collaborates with plant and development sites to update procedures to close audit non-conformities and facilitate improvement of auditing systems at corporate and plant sites.
  • Initiates appeals to the registrar for any disputed IATF or ISO on non-conformity. 
  • Advises global sites in the compliance to the IATF 16949 standard and integrates relevant customer specific requirements into the internal auditing process. 
  • Maintains and verifies communication between the registered sites and the IATF registrar. Works with the Registrar to set-up the annual IATF audit schedule.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent 3 years of Quality Assurance or Program Management experience.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems.  (IATF16949, ISO:9001, ISO14001/45000, ISO17025 and VDA6.3)
  • Experience with database management and KPI reporting.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be thorough, well organized and be able to effectively manage their time and priorities.
  • Ability to simultaneously manage multiple tasks and projects.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite Professional, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply skills for management of database systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Certification in IATF16949, ISO:9001, ISO14001/45000, ISO17025, IS013485, VDA 6.3, ASQ a plus.
  • Project Management Professional certification a plus.
  • Spanish, German, Chinese, Japanese language are a plus
