Machine Learning - Software Engineer

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

The Advanced Engineering Group of Gentherm is looking for a Software Engineer - Machine Learning (MLE). The MLE will be directly involved in research and development of the next generation human-centric, seat-based, thermal comfort delivery systems. This role is instrumental in vehicle integration of machine learning software algorithms through cloud connectivity and embedded software pieces and requires excellent communication with advanced software engineering and thermal-physiology teams. The MLE is further expected to be at the forefront of the development of real time thermal comfort analysis and progressively integrate biometric sensor feedback as probes to driver and occupant holistic view of comfort and wellness. This is a highly interdisciplinary project that requires from the successful candidate to demonstrate aptitude in acquiring and assimilating domain knowledge from diverse scientific and engineering areas. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Apply agile methodologies to develop machine learning software algorithms. 
  • Apply relevant scientific rigor to analyze test and field data. 
  • Develop machine learning predictive and control algorithms targeting thermal comfort and wellness feedforward and feedback systems. 
  • Write technical reports backed by statistical analysis. 
  • Communicate important test results to upper and senior management. 
  • Scour IP and literal sources to gather unique information and explain test results. 
  • Assist engineering teams in defining product specifications. 
  • Act as the link between scientific and engineering teams in translating machine learning algorithms into products. 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BSc in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar technical field (Physics, Engineer etc); Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Concrete knowledge of linear algebra, statistics, numerical methods, and machine learning algorithms. Knowledge of engineering signal processing is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of Python/R visualization libraries.
  • Proven experience with deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, Keras, Caffe2, Torch/PyTorch etc) 
  • Proven experience integrating ML algorithms into cloud platforms and embedded systems.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written, presentation) 
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Excellent command of Python and/or R. Coding in C/C++ is a plus. 
  • Excellent command of standard machine learning tools and libraries such as pandas, numpy, scipy, and scikit-learn.
