Federal Tax Manager

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

The Federal Tax Manager is responsible for managing the domestic tax function of a multinational publicly traded company.  This includes all aspects of the Company’s tax provision, compliance, planning and audits.  The successful candidate will work within an interdisciplinary team, including external tax advisors, to minimize cash taxes, proactively minimize the global effective tax rate, and document/ensure arm’s length pricing on intercompany transactions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for leveraging external tax advisors to complete US tax returns, tax estimates, provisions and special projects as needed.
  • Monitor changes in US tax laws and regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the organization including CFO, and business unit VPs
  • Prepare relevant information for the interim and annual SEC reporting process and for the respective global legal entities. Includes the preparation of Form 10-Qs and 10-K, and the Annual Report.
  • Manage SOX processes and documentation related to tax matters.
  • Work with finance and accounting teams and external auditors to achieve efficient and effective audit results.
  • Responsible for coordinating with federal and state taxing jurisdictions for audits of all tax returns, etc.
  • Establish and maintain corporate accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure conformance with laws/regulations
  • Assist Senior Leadership with tax planning opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, etc as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Five (+) years of relevant tax experience, with at least three (+) years of Big-4 experience or similar industry experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or closely-related field
  • Experience with ASC 740 accounting for income tax experience and Sarbanes Oxley required
  • Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Collaboration and strong interpersonal skills.  The ability to build credibility, trust, respect, and cooperation among team members is essential.
  • Detail oriented with strong organization and analytical skills
  • Independently motivated to research and problem solve
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s degree in business taxation
  • Active CPA license or JD
  • Additional knowledge of Canadian and Mexican tax laws and regulations a plus
