Executive Director, Advanced Systems Engineering




The Executive Director of Advanced Systems Engineering is a key leadership position in the team that is driving the transformation of Gentherm toward “Digital”. You will own end to end development for Gentherm’s portfolio of advanced products, such as ClimateSenseTM.  This is a fantastic time to join and the current world heath awareness is creating a tremendous alignment with Gentherm’s mission to create solutions that enable personalized Comfort and Wellness in the Automotive and Medical space.  You will lead a team of highly experienced engineers, responsible for ideation and creation of new concepts/products across Gentherm’s major business units.   You will also collaborate closely with top business leaders and the world’s largest Automotive OEMs and technology partners to bring game changing products to market, driving significant footprint and business growth for Gentherm!



  • Lead the overall Development of Gentherm’s Advanced product and technology pipeline.  
  • Integrate Advanced products to a variety of OEM vehicles. 
  • Define and implement International trade show content to showcase new Gentherm product experiences, in partnership with Gentherm Marketing.    
  • Present new product ideas via implementation of immersive experiences and prototypes – to Gentherm Executives, Customers and Investors. 
  • Collaborate with automotive OEM advanced product teams to ensure seamless vehicle integration, cost appropriateness and drive product usability optimization. 
  • Validate mass production feasibility of advanced products and facilitate handoff to Application engineering teams. 




  • 15+ years’ experience leading engineering teams within a product-based business environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Computer Science OR a combination of education and experience that equals 15 years or more experience.
  • Comfortable in a broad range of technologies, including Hardware, Materials, Lighting, Surfaces and Software, with the know how to stitch them together to create an immersive experience.
  • Highly articulate and engaging - able to communicate technical concepts in “so what” terms that connect with technical experts, executives and non-technical press/media and investors.
  • 10+ year of success in delivery of new categories of product to market – from ideation through production release.  The candidate should be prepared to submit a portfolio of prior projects.
  • Possess a User Experience driven DNA and approach to innovation.   Thrives on rapid prototyping, creating immersive experiences and user clinics to vet out new ideas.




  • Industrial design and/or experience with design language. 
  • Experience in the development of automotive systems.
  • Deep knowledge of embedded and application software, API level programming.
  • Strong networking contacts in industry design and development, to tackle a wide variety of product development tasks.
