Communications Specialist

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

As part of Gentherm’s Corporate Communications team, you will work collaboratively with team members to bring the Company’s mission to life.

Through storytelling, you will help identify industry trends to tell Gentherm’s story internally and across earned and owned media channels. In this role you will be responsible for working in an integrated manner with key stakeholders in Marketing, Strategy, Human Resources and other partners, to ensure a focused and cohesive approach to reaching our audiences and achieving business goals.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Drafts news releases, pitch letters, case histories, by-liners, op-eds, etc.
  • Maintain relationships with technology, automotive and business media, while strengthening the company's media relationships with media
  • Work in an integrated manner with marketing and HR colleagues to develop compelling written and visual content to be used internally and across earned and owned media channels, with a firm understanding of key marketing principles
  • Support major company events and news moments including media announcements, conferences and trade shows.
  • Develops monitoring reports that require minimal editing from supervisors and are free of typographical and grammatical errors
  • Evaluates and analyzes information and data, including development of succinct, accurate summaries and analyses of research
  • Able to develop fact sheet/backgrounders, first draft of pitch letter
  • Develops media lists and other reports (e.g., competitor, consumer, legislative or interest group analyses) completely and accurately

ADDITIONAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Actively contributes in group and team meetings, as well as in brainstorming, developing and researching client programs
  • Develop editorial calendars, and pitch trade and appropriate consumer media
  • Arranges meetings and events, including press conferences, town hall meetings, and other special events
  • Identify vendors for specific program projects, secure price quotes, help team decision-making
  • Develop and implement internal communications strategy and execution plan aligned to business unit strategy
  • Distributing key communications updates to employees, including e-newsletter, email blasts, intranet, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3 years of relevant professional experience in communications or a related field, with media relations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, public relations or a closely related field
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an ability to develop press materials, presentations and media pitches
  • Strong editing skills
  • Demonstrated experience with problem-solving, decision-making, project management and strategy development

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Automotive industry related experience
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of social media and social networking sites and tools
  • Ability to work with senior executives and support their participation at internal and external events
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a cross-functional team
  • Positive and can-do attitude for taking on a variety of assignments to help successfully implement the communications plan
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and a willingness to take initiative
  • Demonstrates creative and innovative thinking focused on customers and customer benefits
