Advanced Development Electrical Engineer


Advanced Development Electrical Engineer position is responsible as a technical lead to design, develop, release, and integrate electrical and electronic systems hardware and software for advanced engineering projects.  This position requires creativity by encouraging the development of new technology ideas and allows ability for growth of new product lines in an innovative environment. 

  • Ensure that brand new product or process is designed within various industry standards according to applicable specification in a safe, cost efficient and timely manner while following Gentherm Innovation processes.
  • Assist in the development of a system architecture in cooperation with other design teams.
  • Maintains correct engineering and technical disciplines
  • Leads vehicle system integration for internal / customer projects
  • Coordinates tasks among cross functional teams involving electrical / functional system behavior
  • Define system and component operating requirements and control schemes.
  • Prepare technical specifications for the electrical/electronic components and system.  Reports as needed for communication.
  • Carry out circuit simulations and/or calculations to prove out concepts and designs.
  • Design electrical schematics and PCB layout optimized for automotive EMC performance.
  • Test and troubleshoot prototypes, troubleshoot EMC issues.
  • Create BOM, gerbers, ICT specification, EOL test specification and other fabrication documents.
  • Ensure functional and safe prototypes.
  • Generate required engineering work products to drive deliverables to meet project timing and internal process requirements.
  • Attend, support and participate in engineering development meetings, program launches with the customer and team.
  • Act as a technical liaison between customer and Gentherm internal


Bachelor's Degree in electrical, computer, electronics engineering or equivalent

Minimum 3 years of position related experience

Experience designing with analog, digital, semiconductors, microprocessors, power supplies, electronics hardware design, and communication circuits is required. 

Working knowledge of automotive specifications and requirements for EE and electromechanical systems.



  • Master’s degree
  • 5-7 years of position related experience
  • 5+ years of working experience in an automotive engineering environment, high volume automotive production applications
  • 3+ years with Altium / Mentor Graphics or similar ECAD design
  • Experience in using LIN and/or CAN for automotive OEM
  • Familiarity with embedded software design and C code
  • Knowledge of electronics assembly processes and equipment
  • Experience creating DFMEA, WCA, DFM
  • Knowledge/experience in ICT/EOL testing standard
  • Demonstrated experience in hardware development from concept to series support



TRAVEL: Travel as necessary to perform position duties with international teams and customers. Travel may vary, but can be up to 20% travel for periods of 1 to 2 weeks based on project work load.
