SENIOR HR GENERALIST

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

As an Sr. HR Generalist at Gentherm, you play a key role in our dynamic HR team supporting a variety of HR initiatives and programs.  The  Senior Human Resources Generalist provides front line guidance to plant operating management and employees in all aspects of human resources related to labor relations and world class manufacturing implementation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Employee Relations & Labor Compliance Serve as a trusted HR partner for employees and leadership, providing guidance on policies, labor laws, and best practices. Manage employee relations cases, including investigations, disciplinary actions, conflict resolution, and grievance handling. Ensure compliance with Mexican labor laws (LFT), union agreements (if applicable), and industry standards.
  • Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning Support recruitment efforts by working with hiring managers to identify critical talent needs for the plant. Oversee the onboarding and orientation process to ensure a seamless integration for new hires. Partner with HR leadership to develop strategies for talent retention and succession planning.
  • Training & Development Identify training needs and coordinate employee learning & development programs, including leadership development, technical training, and soft skills training. Ensure compliance with mandatory training (safety, ISO/IATF standards, workplace ethics).
  • HR Operations & Payroll Support Manage HR-related documentation, personnel records, and attendance tracking. Support payroll processes, ensuring accuracy in overtime, shifts, and benefits administration. Partner with finance and operations to optimize headcount planning and workforce efficiency.
  • Performance Management & Continuous Improvement Support the implementation of performance evaluation processes and goal-setting frameworks. Work with leadership to address performance issues through PIPs (Performance Improvement Plans) and career development plans. Drive HR process improvements, leveraging Lean, Kaizen, and continuous improvement methodologies in HR operations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field.
  • 7 + years of HR experience, preferably in a manufacturing or automotive plant environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Mexican labor laws (LFT, STPS), NOM-035, and industry standards (IATF 16949, ISO 9001).
  • Experience working in unionized and non-unionized environments.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Proficiency in HRIS systems (SuccessFactors, SAP HR, or similar).
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English) is often required to communicate with corporate teams and leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • TRESS Databases, SuccessFactors knowledge preferred.
  • Prior experience managing the onboarding process
  • Ability to communicate in both written and oral forms with all levels of the organization.
  • HR experience working in a union environment
