SR. ENGINEER PROCESS MOLDING
IMPACT AND OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Process Engineer – Molding is responsible for driving continuous improvement initiatives in molding operations, leading process optimization, and providing support for new product introductions. This role ensures operational excellence through collaboration with cross-functional teams, directly impacting plant safety, quality, delivery, and costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and provide technical support to Process Engineers to achieve established objectives across all molding lines.
• Ensure understanding and execution of molding best practices and process standardization.
• Develop and maintain parameter sheets, control plans, and critical documentation. • Develop, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) on a regular basis, ensuring compliance with productivity and efficiency targets.
• Conduct root cause analysis for process deviations or failures and implement corrective and preventive actions using structured methodologies such as 5 Whys (5W) and 8 Disciplines (8D).
• Ensure compliance with the Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) process for all engineering activities and new product launches.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing downtime, scrap, and variability in molding processes.
• Coordinate preventive maintenance and calibration programs for molding equipment with the maintenance and quality departments.
• Support plant capacity planning and ensure the accuracy of cycle times per production line.
• Validate technical information in SAP, including bills of materials (BOMs), cycle times, and work centers.
• Ensure that process technical documentation is up-to-date and meets Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA) requirements.
• Identify waste and lead Lean/Six Sigma projects.
• Implement actions to reduce variability and operating costs.
• Lead and participate in the validation of new equipment or equipment transferred from other plants, ensuring its proper integration and performance. • Coordinate with the design, product engineering, and quoting departments to estimate costs for new projects and product launches.
Participate in and comply with the requirements of the Quality Management System - IATF 16949, Environmental Management System - ISO 14001, and Occupational Health and Safety Management System - ISO 45001 and TISAX (Trusted Information Security Assessment Exchange), as applicable to the position. Prepare compliance evidence and support audits. Ensure that you and the personnel under your supervision (when applicable) are trained according to their roles in all matters related to the Management Systems: Quality - IATF 16949, Environmental - ISO 14001, Occupational Health and Safety - ISO 45001, and TISAX, promptly identifying training needs. Responsible for understanding and complying with Information Security policies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.
• Postgraduate degree in Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, or similar is desirable.
• +7 years of minimum experience in molding processes (plastic injection, aluminum injection, composites, or resins, as applicable) within the automotive sector.
• Proven experience in: Optimization of molding parameters Mold and machine validation Scrap and variability reduction APQP/PPAP implementation Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001
• Advanced knowledge of molding machinery (injection, compression, etc.).
• Analysis of critical process parameters, material behavior, and troubleshooting.
• Automotive quality tools: APQP, PPAP, MSA, SPC, Process FMEA (PFMEA), Control Plan
• Proficiency in Minitab.
• Knowledge of PLC programming and automation.
• Experience in quoting machinery and tooling.
