Lead HR Specialist, USA

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

Opportunity to provide payroll process expertise across United States. Lead planning efforts to integrate new locations and drive adoption of Gentherm’s preferred global payroll. Lead the U.S. payroll function, ensuring processes are efficient, timely, accurate, and compliant.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead efforts to integrate new US locations into existing payroll process and system (Dayforce).
  • Assess new locations payroll practices, systems, pay codes, and compliance requirements; develop standardized integration plans and timelines.
  • Oversee data migration, validation, parallel testing, and post-go-live stabilization for new locations.
  • Identify gaps between legacy payroll systems and Dayforce; design and implement solutions to ensure compliance and operational efficiency.
  • Lead efforts to standardize US payroll system adoption and process standardization based on the payroll function’s vision, strategy and mission.
  • Create and standardized integration checklists, documentation, and SOPs to location transitions.
  • Oversee the daily management for the company’s US payroll (multi-state and multi-schedule payroll) in accordance with the company’s pay schedule and filing of deductions, taxes, filings, recordkeeping, notifications.
  • Drive continuous improvement of US payroll policies, processes, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with the Finance and HR teams to support the company's US expansion efforts and resolve payroll-related by providing payroll expertise and implementing process improvements.
  • Provide guidance and research into complex US payroll matters and stay up to date with ongoing federal and state payroll tax regulations to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Build and develop strong support models and vendor support relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant payroll regulations, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other legal requirements applicable to US payroll function.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated success leading to the successful delivery of multi-state US payroll.
  • High level of integrity, with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated success in leading US payroll function through rapid growth and expansion, with a proven ability to develop and execute effective strategies.
  • Project management skills to effectively balance competing priorities during project lifecycles while adhering to specific deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Strong influential and self-leading skills.
  • A customer service mindset and approach to supporting the business.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Business, Human Resources or related field.
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or equivalent certification.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of payroll software and cloud-based systems, as well as the ability to evaluate, implement, or upgrade payroll technology as needed.
  • Familiarity with international payroll regulations and compliance requirements, including Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and other relevant industry standards.
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compliance requirements in multiple countries.
  • Experience building and managing organizational key performance indicators (KPIs) or scorecards.
