Test Technician, EMC

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

You will work on customer comfort products that are part of Gentherm’s Electronics technology that’s shaping the vehicles of the future. The EMC Test Technician is responsible for understanding EMC test plans and executing test campaigns to ensure that components meet reliability, and customer requirements.  The EMC Test Technician position at the Gentherm Technical Center can not only support the completion of validation plans but to enhance and streamline day to day testing processes.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Follow Specification and Procedure to Collect and Report Out Data

 

  • Interpret and execute EMC test plans and EMC Test Specifications for a wide variety of OEM requirements.
  • Maintain an understanding of EMC test procedures, test plans and OEM EMC requirements to be able to identify specification ambiguities and conflicts during testing.
  • Have knowledge of EMC and the associated testing for Emissions/Immunity and ESD test procedures and use of EMC test instrumentation.
  • Able to follow EMI/EMS test plans and setup per plan and follow internal and international standards.
  • Understand the proper use and limitations of standard test equipment such as Oscilloscopes, Power Supplies, Voltmeters, Arbitrary waveform generators, Spectrum Analyzers, and RF signal Generators.
  • Conduct testing in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 requirements adherence to internal lab procedures.
  • Lead and complete continuous improvement projects within work area to improve efficiency of test setups.
  • Recommend, design, and build new test equipment as required for performing tests.

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Electronics Engineering background or more than 3 years’ automotive EMC test experience.
  • Proficiency in EMC test equipment is a plus, Spectrum Analyzers, Receivers, Signal Generators, Power Amplifiers, Oscilloscopes.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Familiarity with automotive communication tools including Vector CANalyzer, LIN. neoVI
  • Knowledge and application of various OEM testing specifications and execution to DVP&R plans.
  • Knowledge of EMC standards is a plus (e.g., CISPR 25; ISO 7637-2; ISO 7637-3; ISO 16750-2; ISO 10605; ISO 11452-2; ISO 11452-4).
