Test Lab Manager




The Test Lab Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the operations of the test lab within the organization. The manager is responsible for overseeing the completion of validation testing and fabrication of prototype parts.  To support customer satisfaction and Gentherm’ s go-to-market strategy for both core and future products.



  • Forecast lab capacity for planned and unplanned testing/ prototyping, and take steps necessary to increase capacity to ensure minimized backlog
  • Analyze requirements for new equipment and testing/prototyping methods and establish capital requirements/budgets
  • Create methods for new customers, stay apprised of new industry standards and drive improvement in processes
  • Conduct/organize training sessions to enhance skills/capacity of the staff
  • Verify through gage R&R all equipment and all procedures; creates standardized methods and work instructions and provides opinions and interpretations of test data and builds when required
  • Install and maintain lab management system towards ISO 17025 including documentation, uncertainty measurements, driving lab corrective actions, internal compliance audits
  • Drive improvements in lab system and reduction of measurement uncertainty; review and analyze test reports and prototype parts
  • Advise and consult with design engineering regarding design robustness and technical solutions; model and simulate product in field behavior in test methods, either new or related to industry standard




  • Conduct reliability reviews on heater test results and prototype builds; provide feedback in design feasibility
  • Review DV and DVPR requirements and approve use of surrogate data
  • Maintain 5S work environment
  • implement improved administrative processes, consolidation of lab procurement and communization of equipment on global basis, commonization of global DVP&R’s, commonization of global test lab procedures
  • Maintain communication with appropriate engineering departments, in Gentherm Corporate to assure a constant two-way flow of information
  • Develop customer relationships and support technical customer discussions
  • Achieve departmental financial objectives by participating in the development of a departmental budget, scheduling and controlling expenditures, analyzing variances and initiating requirements





  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Automotive Engineering Management Role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering
  • Strong understanding of ISO 17025 Accreditation
  • Strong customer interactions skills  
  • Strong communication skills
  • Strong Presentation skills
  • Strong Negotiation skills




  • Knowledge of Measurement Uncertainty
  • Certification of Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 certification
  • Familiar with global automotive OEM test specifications
  • Leading High-Performance Teams
  • 5S and Lean Professional Experience
  • Knowledge of Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence etc.)
  • Exposure to both test and small volume production environments
