TEST ENGINEER

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

The Test Engineer has full responsibility for all routines related with test work in the Environmental and EMC areas. The responsibilities of this position impact test accreditations, efficiency, accuracy, and quality of Gentherm products.  In addition to assessing product performance and meeting customer deadlines, this position provides the opportunity to improve product design, become an EMC and Environmental Test expert, and to continuously increase knowledge of equipment and customer standards. The Test Engineer will strive to provide excellent technical services to both internal and external customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

 

Follow Specification and Procedure to Collect and Report Out Data

 

  • Responsible for test operation, follow the direction with test systems engineer, test technical engineer and test lab leader at assigned test sites.
  • Execute functionality test on samples and record data with corresponding parameters.
  • Operates lab equipment and instruments, execute test and record test data according to test procedure, work instruction and test specifications in order to produce reliable and precise data following the work instruction of test request management.
  • Provide on-time test status updates to test technical engineer and test lab leader.
  • Responds to test results and provide opinions and interpretations when required to test technical engineer and test lab leader.
  • Authority to upload electronics log or raw data to PDM.

 

Equipment Calibration, Maintenance and Repair

 

  • Fully responsible for equipment calibration, maintenance and repair following the direction of test systems engineer, test equipment engineers and test lab leader.
  • Recommend, design and build new test equipment as required for performing tests.
  • Monitors inventory levels and orders materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.

OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS

 

  • Work with the team to ensure appropriate scheduling of electronics test.
  • Actively update task progress with other team members and promptly inform test lab leader of any issues or trouble.
  • Provide training to new employees including equipment, test lab work process and HSE training.
  • Lead and complete continuous improvement projects within work area to improve efficiency on test setup and apply to the entire lab.
  • Accomplish various responsibilities, duties and projects as assigned by test lab leader

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related engineering field with 3 years of automotive electronics test experience
  • OR a minimum of 5 years of automotive electronics test experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong and effective communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ISO17025 internal auditor
  • Capability to understand C programming language
  • LabVIEW experience on equipment control
  • Excel VBA experience on data analyzing and processing
  • Python experience on measurement software development and data algorithm
