LEAD ENGINEER

 

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

 

The Lead Engineer will provide technical, day-to-day direction to a team of engineers. Act as the customer technical interface and provide project direction to ensure all tasks remain on time and in budget.  The Lead Engineer has full responsibility for all routines related with test work in the Environmental and EMC areas. The responsibilities of this position impact test accreditations, efficiency, accuracy, and quality of Gentherm products.  In addition to assessing product performance and meeting customer deadlines, this position provides the opportunity to provide technical solutions, and mentorship of team members. The Lead Engineer will strive to provide excellent technical services to both internal and external customers through applied principles and concepts.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Lead complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, and techniques.
  • Lead feasibility assessments and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, or equipment.
  • Participate in new test development work and implement intelligent tools for continuous improvement
  • Recommend, design, and build new test equipment as required for performing tests
  • Address technical difficulties from team members and support finding a solution and schedule related training
  • Review, authorize, and maintain lab documents (WIs, JIs, templates, etc...) in Confluence/ PDM and follow up with the outcome of any established procedures. Authority to release global documents in Confluence/Jira
  • Ensure productive communication with the customer and direct supervisor
  • Ensure successful delivery of the tasks and ensuring team competence
  • Take initiative in solving complex problems, and requires ongoing collaboration across project or process stakeholders

OTHER CORE FUNCTIONS

 

  • Support A2LA and OEMs accreditation according to ISO 17025
  • Support internal and external audits including but not limited to preparation, customer feedback, deviation/findings follow up and corrective actions etc.
  • Follow Specification/Procedure and Validation plan to collect and report findings
  • Develop validation plans when necessary
    • Execute functionality test on samples and record data with corresponding parameters.
    • Operates lab equipment and instruments, execute test and record test data according to test procedure, work instruction and test specifications in order to produce reliable and precise data following the work instruction of test request management.
    • Provide on-time test status updates
    • Responds to test results and provide opinions and interpretations when required
    • Support equipment calibration and maintenance

QUALIFICATIONS

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering or related engineering field
  • OR a minimum of 8 years of automotive electronics test experience in lieu of a degree
  • Strong and effective communication skills

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • ISO17025 knowledge
  • Capability to understand C programming language
  • LabVIEW experience on equipment control
  • Excel VBA experience on data analyzing and processing
  • Python experience on measurement software development and data algorithm
