IMPACT AND OPPORTUNITY

As Senior Cost Accountant with Gentherm Medical, you will work closely with our Manufacturing teams to address all aspects of financial performance and reporting. This role is responsible for business budgeting and forecasting, including variance analysis of inventory, gross margin, productivity, and capitalized assets. The Senior Cost Accountant also assists in consolidating these metrics for the division which requires process standardization throughout the business led by this individual.  Also assists the AP/AR analysts in cash management for Cincinnati location only.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine costs of business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. 
  • Set and maintain overhead rates in Visual ERP system. 
  • Help prepare cost of goods sold and CAPEX budgets and forecasts. 
  • Analyze actual labor, material, and overhead costs against Standard/Budget. Research and explain variances. Report this information monthly or as needed. 
  • Assist the operations team in developing and tracking cost out initiatives. 
  • Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products and services. 
  • Conduct physical inventory and monitor cycle count programs, aligned with operations. 
  • Reconciles raw and finished goods inventory.  
  • Prepare monthly account reconciliations, roll forwards, and journal entries as part of month-end close. 
  • Prepare work papers for year-end audit. 
  • Assist management with developing, implementing, and maintaining system of internal controls. 
  • Provide overall leadership for Cash and Cash performance of the business. 
  • Prepare ad hoc reporting and analysis as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.  
  • Minimum 3 years manufacturing cost analysis and/or accounting. 
  • Hands on experience with ERP systems.  
  • Solid personal computer skills with strong knowledge in Excel and other related software. 
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; works well in group problem solving situations. 
  • Approaches others in a tactful manner; reacts well under pressure; treats others with respect and consideration regardless of their status or position. 
  • Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve performance; monitors own work to ensure quality. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) 
  • Prior Cost Accounting Experience 
  • Visual ERP Experience 
  • Tax process/awareness
