PURCHASING ASSISTANT

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

The Purchasing Assistant will have the responsibility to set-up Suppliers, maintain supplier files, and manage non-conforming product activities consistent with the company policies and standards. Activities will have a direct impact on cash flow and our ability to quickly and efficiently service our customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicate with vendors, accounting and warehouse to resolve discrepancies such as pricing, quantity issues and lead times.
  • Ensure compliance to company policies, standards, procurement policy, procurement standardized model, Supplier code, best practices, etc.
  • Manage the day-to-day and clerical Purchasing activity related to: Supplier set-up, supplier agreements, and Supplier Review Board meetings.
  • Support buyers with purchase order confirmations, obtaining quotes from suppliers, expediting shipments, and other tasks.
  • Work with Quality, Engineering, Vendors, and the Warehouse to address non-conforming products and assist with RMA requests, credits, and issuance of ship tickets.
  • Additional Duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Purchasing Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School or GED Diploma
  • Strong organization and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to communicate, lead and influence effectively across various levels of the organization.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong Interpersonal and team skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. 
  • Possess professional attitudes towards vendors, internal customers.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Technical degree or equivalent.
  • Experience with MRP/ERP system.
  • 3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing environment.
