IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
A Level III Buyer will follow industry best practices to source, negotiate, and purchase items and services consistent with the procurement strategy established by the SVP/GM and senior management at Gentherm Medical.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Use Material Requirements Planning (MRP), and underlying data, to effectively supply materials at the right time, right quantity, and price.
- Prevent or anticipate delivery issues to help reduce risk of interruption to production.
- Participate in cross-functional supply review and work closely with manufacturing to address supplier issues and assure production remains on schedule.
- Monitor component usage vs. forecast to address potential overstock situations before they negatively impact inventory turns. Heavy use of Excel required to achieve task(s).
- Independently manage projects and cost savings initiatives to improve company profitability.
- Resolve AP payment issues in a timely manner to reduce impact to both Gentherm and our suppliers.
- Represent Purchasing during product development by developing new supply sources, managing RFQs, and rationalizing component selection from vendors with favorable terms and low supply chain risks.
- Support Supplier Performance Measurement process (i.e., quality, on-time delivery, response to variable demand, etc.).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in business, technical degree, or equivalent.
- 4-6 years of purchasing experience in manufacturing environment using MRP/ERP system.
- Demonstrated negotiating skills to solicit competing bids from multiple vendors and drive cost and lead time reductions.
- Have a complete understanding of, and be able to apply, sound Purchasing principles, concepts, and practices.
- Ability to work, achieve goals, and meet deadlines independently, with minimal supervision after initial training.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel in order to perform detailed and thorough investigations and be able to communicate implications of analysis and corrective action(s).
- Utilize tactical problem-solving skills to balance order fulfillment priorities pertaining to order size and its impact on lead times, product cost, inventory levels, freight costs, and service levels, in order to quickly determine the optimum solution that meets our companies and customer’s needs.
- Strong organization, attention to detail, project management, and multi-tasking skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills (internal and external) as well as strong Interpersonal and team skills to lead and influence effectively across various levels of the organization.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in business, technical degree, or equivalent.
- CPM or CPSM.
- Visual ERP experience.
- Previous audit history and/or experience working in FDA related industry.
