Senior Quality System Engineer
IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY
The Senior Quality Systems Engineer ensures that the company operates under a robust, process-based, audited management system in compliance with IATF standards and customer requirements. This guarantees current certifications, access to new business, and mitigates the risk of non-conformance that may affect global automotive customers. This position offers the opportunity to become a leader in quality management, process focus, and regulatory compliance, with the potential to advance to Quality Manager or Regional Quality Systems Leader positions, in addition to driving quality process digitization and standardization projects at the corporate level.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Main Functions:
• Manage and maintain the quality management system (IATF 16949, VDA, ISO 9001) with a process-based approach, ensuring the interaction, measurement, and improvement of each process.
• Coordinate and follow up on internal, external, certification, and client audits, including layered audits (LPA) and process audits (VDA 6.3).
• Ensure the timely and effective closure of internal, external, and client audit findings.
• Develop, update, and control management system documentation (procedures, manuals, and instructions) aligned with the organization's processes.
• Train and coach staff on the process approach, quality standards, Core Tools, and system requirements.
• Monitor key performance metrics for the quality system and processes, reporting deviations and opportunities for improvement.
• Coordinate compliance with client system requirements (portals, scorecards, process assessments).
• Lead initiatives for continuous improvement, standardization, and digitalization of quality processes.
Responsibilities:
1. Ensure the validity of quality certifications (IATF 16949) and compliance with customer requirements.
2. Coordinate the annual internal audit program, with special emphasis on process audits and their effectiveness.
3. Lead the follow-up and closure of corrective actions arising from audits, customer complaints, or internal findings.
4. Ensure that the organization's processes maintain documentary discipline, performance indicators, and a focus on continuous improvement.
5. Report the results and status of the quality system to management, proposing improvement plans and ensuring control of key processes.
6. Act as a liaison between the plant and certification bodies, clients, and corporate entities on quality system and process management issues.
7. Promote a culture of quality and a process-based approach throughout the organization.
8. Responsible for ongoing regulatory surveillance (Regulatory Intelligence), including actively monitoring updates, revisions, and amendments published by ISO (ISO 9001) and IATF (IATF 16949). This includes interpreting, internally communicating, and managing the timely adaptation of Quality Management Systems (QMS) to new requirements.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Automotive standards: IATF 16949, VDA 6.3, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001.
• PCBA standards: IPC-A-610
• Core tools: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC.
• Problem-solving methodologies (8D, 5Why, Ishikawa).
• Indicator management.
• Internal audit management, LPA, system, and process audits.
• Document management of management systems.
• Process analysis and continuous improvement tools.
