PRODUCTION PLANNER

IMPACT AND OPPORTUNITY

Responsible for working with account management and program management to develop a forecast for long-term material planning, taking into account current inventory, obsolescence, lead times, product life cycles, and production capacity.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate NPI, EOP, engineering changes, and the sales plan into a coherent build plan in SAP.
  • Responsible for creating an achievable master production schedule, reconciling manufacturing capacity and supply availability, and alerting the organization to any risks.
  • Drive, promote, and develop positive communication with customer service, account managers, and program managers to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Analyze inventory levels and product demand to determine order levels and safety stock that will ensure product availability and minimize inventory costs.
  • Optimize inventory days and cash cycle.
  • Execution planning.
  • Coordinate the monthly SIOP to ensure new products are launched in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop and maintain a forecast/master schedule and procurement plan based on history, seasonality, and sales opportunities. Support new product development through cooperative scheduling of model introductions, end-of-life, and prototype processing.
  • Coordinate and plan material requirements for new product introductions, including reviewing new BOMs and start dates for build verification and product units.
  • Work cooperatively with engineering, program managers, manufacturing engineers, and production VSLs to implement pre-engineering change orders for production or projects not yet launched.
  • Assess material availability risk and production schedule for customer sales opportunities that may be impacting product demand above plan; escalate as needed.
  • Review material shortages, stockouts, and safety stock levels while working with new launches or engineering changes, and propose changes when necessary.
  • Help resolve planning and MRP discrepancies between actual customer demand and the sales budget.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with customer-specific requirements with a Zero Defects mindset.
  • Process Focus: Manages with a process-oriented approach to achieve objectives. Involves understanding, defining, and managing processes with a focus on PDCA and prevention.
  • Risk Planning and Analysis: Uses risk-based thinking with their team and functions. Involves identifying risks, analyzing causes and consequences, evaluating risk levels, and treatment; documenting this as evidence of control. (Applicable for IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
  • Lifecycle Perspective: Ensure the identification of environmental aspects through their area, considering process inputs and outputs.
  • Participate in and comply with the requirements of the IATF 16949 quality management system and the ISO 14001/ISO 45001 environmental management system relevant to their position. Prepare evidence of compliance and support audits.
  • Authority: Stop or cancel any process that does not meet the requirements established by the organization and/or the aforementioned quality or environmental-safety management systems.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of experience leading material planning activities.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Knowledge of SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Ability to consolidate data from different sources to provide relevant summaries and analysis for quick decision-making and problem-solving in crisis situations.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to work under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • English level intermediate

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in the automotive industry.
  • Basic knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 14001 - ISO 45001.
