ENGINEER II, NPI
IMPACT AND OPPORTUNITY
Electronic product launches and engineering changes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Analyze work processes and/or methods to improve productivity.
• Conduct analyses to determine the need for tools, machinery, space, and labor.
• Define and document capacity requirements by comparing production volumes and plant production capacity. Identify risks and release the project team for the quotation stage.
• Create preliminary process flow diagrams and routings for quotation.
• Analyze and define costs, capacities, equipment requirements, and tooling. Determine if existing production technology can be used; otherwise, define the requirements specification for the new technology.
• Create the final process flow diagram and routings.
• Produce tooling drawings, ensuring the most efficient use of materials and minimal manufacturing time.
• Organize, direct, and drive the design and release of production tooling across all processes, and ensure that all tooling is available for manufacturing and/or PPAP executions.
• Ensure that design-related documents/changes are in PDM and SAP and maintained throughout the product lifecycle. (Including ECR/ECO processes)
• Generate ECRs in PDM related to process or product improvements.
• Review and approve process drawings, and provide feedback to designers.
• Track IARs generated by the manufacturing plant.
• Generate the necessary information to justify IARs.
• Gather information to budget for equipment, machinery, and production processes required for capacity or improvement projects, and for equipment replacement needs.
• Identify and improve product quality, process capability, product performance and reliability, and conduct a FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
• Review product design using design-to-manufacturing guidelines, and work with design and manufacturing engineering to ensure the product can be manufactured using existing equipment and processes.
• Provide interpretation of customer requirements and training departments to develop the necessary training for operators on new product requirements.
• Generate pre-production reports.
• Document design issues identified during pre-production builds and follow up with design engineering until closure.
• Participate in corrective actions if defective assemblies are found during pre-production builds.
• Continuously improve existing product designs and internal processes to increase customer satisfaction (CI initiatives) and participate in problem-solving.
• Responsible for understanding and meeting specific customer requirements with Zero Defects as the goal.
• Process Approach: Manage with a process-oriented approach to achieve objectives. This involves understanding, defining, and managing processes with a focus on PDCA and prevention.
• Risk Planning and Analysis: Utilize risk-based thinking with your team and across functions. This involves risk identification, cause and consequence analysis, risk level assessment, and treatment; documenting the above as evidence of control. (Applicable to IATF 16949, ISO 14001, ISO 45001)
• Life cycle perspective: Ensure the identification of environmental aspects throughout your area, considering process inputs and outputs.
• Participate in and comply with the requirements of the IATF 16949 quality management system and the ISO 14001/ISO 45001 environmental management system corresponding to your position. Prepare evidence of compliance and support audits.
• Authority: Stop/cancel any process that does not meet the established requirements.
