Manufacturing Engineering Specialist


Supports the Manufacturing and Sales teams through involvement in NPI, process development and costing of all products by:

  1. Refining existing processes and providing input in the development of new processes and equipment to improve product quality, increase efficiencies, improve productivity, reduce cycle times, develop accurate standards and reduce costs. 
  2. Reviewing layouts, details and designs of the Design Engineering group for manufacturability paying attention to specifications, layouts and process capabilities.  Creates or verifies manufacturing documentation to include work instructions and assembly drawings.
  3. Providing accurate process and cost information to Sales in order to develop customer quotations.

External Contacts:           Component and Equipment Suppliers, Customers                           




  • Degree/ 3-Year Diploma in a manufacturing process engineering and/or industrial engineering discipline, from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Training/courses in process measurement and evaluation techniques.
  • Manufacturer’s equipment and process training specific to the Gentherm environment eg. Panasonic, Mirtec, Panasonic, Seho, Vitronics, Flexlink, DEK, SJ Innotech.
  • Certification to IPC-610.



  • Minimum 5 years related experience in a high volume manufacturing environment preferably electronics.
  • Working experience conducting studies, trials and standards, resulting in the identification and implementation of process improvement initiatives.
  • Experience troubleshooting and problem-solving processes involving electromechanical equipment and electronic control assembly lines.
  • SMT process improvement experience involving the following skill sets would an asset:  Panasonic Panapro programming, Panasonic CM602/402 operations and troubleshooting, AOI programming, DEK screen printer and Wave Soldering.



  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required in dealing with all levels of staff regarding process issues and customers in a support role.  Strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
  • Self-motivated, sense of urgency, innovative and creative
  • Knowledge of physiological work measurement techniques, and time study systems
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
  • Good working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.  SAP knowledge would be an asset.
