JOB TITLE
IMPACT & OPPORTUNITY
The Customs Compliance Manager plays a critical leadership role in safeguarding the organization from regulatory risk while supporting efficient global trade operations. This role oversees and manages all customs compliance functions across the organization, ensuring full adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and international trade laws. The position also supports the company’s global supply chain strategy and leads cross-functional compliance initiatives.

Lead the company’s customs compliance strategy and execution across all regions.

Serve as the primary point of contact for customs-related matters with internal teams, government agencies, and third-party service providers.

Monitor and interpret U.S. and international regulations (19 CFR, USMCA, EAR, ITAR, OFAC).

Provide guidance to stakeholders on import/export laws and regulatory developments.

Develop, implement, and manage company-wide customs compliance policies and procedures.

Standardize best practices and ensure consistent adherence across global operations.

Oversee accurate product classification (HTS), country-of-origin determination, and customs valuation.

Resolve classification disputes and manage tariff exposure strategies.

Manage relationships with customs brokers, freight forwarders, and third-party compliance partners.

Conduct audits and reviews to ensure performance and regulatory compliance.

Oversee customs entry filings, post-entry corrections, and duty drawback programs.

Manage responses to customs holds, penalties, and government audits.

Lead audits and investigations related to import/export compliance.

Identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and report outcomes to leadership.

Develop and deliver customs compliance training to relevant departments (Logistics, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Customs Compliance, Supply Chain Management, Law, or related field. (Master’s degree preferred.)

5–7 years of customs compliance experience in a global manufacturing or logistics environment.

Strong knowledge of U.S. Customs regulations (19 CFR), HTS classification, valuation methods, and import/export documentation.

Certified Customs Specialist (CCS) or Licensed Customs Broker (LCB) preferred.

Experience managing customs brokers and handling government audits.

Proficiency in compliance systems such as SAP GTS, Oracle GTM, or similar.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience leading customs audits or voluntary disclosures.

Familiarity with bonded warehouses, Foreign Trade Zones (FTZs), and automation tools.

Bilingual or multilingual (Spanish/English) is a plus.
