CAD Designer (CATIA)

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

• Functions as a design position with responsibility to create 3D data, assemblies and prepare technical drawings to support Engineers and Project Managers using 3D software while supporting CAD team development

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Produce products in 3D and 2D drawings based on customer requirements with input from Product Engineer.
• Ensure drawings are built per CAD guidelines and specific customer requirements.
• Complete drawings in timely manner based on agreed CAD requests from Product Engineer.
• Displace drawings in data management system for Product Engineer review.
• Produce tool drawings ensuring most efficient usage of materials and minimum manufacturing time.
• Learn new revisions of software as they are released.
• Provide feedback to Product Engineers regarding product improvement or modification.
• Support CAD system maintenance and product configuration control.
• Participate in design reviews as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned by CAD Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• A diploma or certificate in a 3D software or equivalent technical degree or equivalent technical experience is required
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience using Catia is required
• Minimum of 1 year experience using Teamcenter is required
• Ability to read and comprehend basic engineering drawings and tooling prints
• Ability to interpret e-mail communications and prioritize assigned tasks

• Four-year Engineering degree

PERFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with AutoCAD and/or NX an asset
• Experience in design of automotive products
• Experience with OEM or Tier 1 automotive part design, seating design, and development a plus
• Experience with GD&T an asset
